These terms apply to your use of newzealand-marathon.co.nz. By using the site you accept them. They are here to make clear what the site is, what it is not, and what you can expect from the information we publish.
About the site
newzealand-marathon.co.nz is an information site about running events in New Zealand, including marathons, half marathons, ultramarathons, trail races and fun runs, along with training, pacing and gear. The site is represented by the website’s owner.
We are not a race organiser. We do not take entries, sell tickets, process payments or hold results, and we are not affiliated with the events, clubs or governing bodies we write about. Anything to do with an entry, refund, transfer or result is a matter for the organiser of that event.
Information only, not advice
Everything on the site is general information. It is not advice tailored to you, and it is not a recommendation to enter a particular event, buy a particular product or use a particular service.
Health and training
Our training plans, pace charts and articles about preparing for a race are general guides. They are not medical advice and they do not replace a coach or health professional who knows your circumstances. Distance running places real demands on the body. Talk to a doctor or other qualified health professional before you start or change a training programme, especially if you have a health condition, an injury or have been inactive for some time.
Calculators and tools
Tools such as our calorie calculator give estimates based on general formulas. Treat the results as a rough guide and not as a precise measure of what your body needs.
Event information
Race dates, courses, distances, entry fees, cut-off times and rules change, and events are sometimes postponed or cancelled. Always confirm the details on the organiser’s official website before you enter, book travel or accommodation, or plan your race day.
Limitation of liability
We work to keep the site accurate and current, but we cannot guarantee that every page is complete, correct or up to date at the moment you read it.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, injury or damage that results from using the site or relying on its content. This includes costs arising from a changed or cancelled event and any injury connected with training or taking part in a race.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under New Zealand law that cannot be excluded.
Links to other websites
The site links to other websites, such as event organisers, governing bodies, public agencies and commercial sites. A small number of articles link to gambling operators.
A link is not an endorsement. We do not control other websites and are not responsible for their content, their services, their terms or the way they handle personal information. We make no statement about whether any operator we link to is licensed or authorised in New Zealand. Read a site’s own terms and privacy policy before you use it.
Age limit and responsible gambling
Most of the site is about running. The parts that refer to betting or gambling are meant only for adults aged 18 and over, and they are information, not encouragement to bet. We do not offer gambling of any kind.
In New Zealand you must be at least 18 to bet with TAB NZ and at least 20 to enter a casino. If gambling is causing harm to you or someone you know, the Gambling Helpline is free and confidential, 24 hours a day, on 0800 654 655 or by text on 8006. Our responsible gambling page has more information and support services.
Intellectual property
The text, design and other original material on the site belong to the website’s owner unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to link to our pages and to quote short passages with a clear credit and a link back. Copying, republishing or commercially reusing substantial parts of the site needs our written permission first.
Event names, logos and trade marks mentioned on the site belong to their respective owners. We refer to them for information only.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy, and the cookies the site uses are described in our cookie policy. Our use of AI tools is set out in our AI policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
If you have a question about these terms, get in touch through our contact page. You can also read more about the site on our About us page.
